All eyes on South Africa for Opening of World Cup

South Africa’s World Cup opening ceremony wil be held this afternoon local time. (8pm China time) in the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.

It is the first time the Wold Cup is being held on the African continent. The 85,000 people in the stadium will include fans from around the world.

The most anticipates scene will be US president Obama meeting Nelson Mandela.

UK David Beckham may also be present.

The hour long cermony will be broadcast live to an estimated 500 Million people in 215 countries.
